This Sunday, June 4th, is a Tibetan Buddhist holiday called Saga Dawa Duchen which celebrates Shakyamuni Buddha’s enlightenment. On this day, the effects of positive or negative actions are multiplied 10 million times, so it’s an excellent time to engage in prayer and other compassionate activities.

4pm – Join us to drum for rain! The drum circle will be behind the temple near the Prayer Room entrance. We will start with a brief dedication ceremony for the newly constructed totem pole, and will be chanting Tara mantra as we drum, praying for rain to ease the drought. All are welcome!

Please bring a chair or blanket to sit on, and any drums you have – the more the merrier! If you don’t have any drums, there may be extra available. Either way, you can chant along with everyone.

While you’re here, visit our adorable goats, pigs, geese and chickens! Pick up some eggs to take home, donate non-perishable food to the bins on the front porch (donations are transported weekly to local food pantries), check out the Buddhist Giving Garden, walk around the stupas, or just find a bench to sit quietly! We’d love to see you!
