Plaque Honors Eleanor & Woody Rowe
H.E. Jetsunma Ahkon Lhamo Rinpoche began teaching students after an invitation offered almost 40 years ago by Eleanor & Woody Rowe to come stay with them and teach what H.H. Penor Rinpoche later called, “pure Mahayana Buddhism”. Since that time, Eleanor and Woody have continued to support Jetsunma’s activities in many ways.
One of these was their support of the Amitabha Stupa. Thanks to our precious lama and her kindness, there is now a beautiful bronze plaque at the Amitabha Stupa in honor of Eleanor and Woody Rowe and the generous role they played in donating the 14 acres of land, thereby making the Amitabha Stupa and Peace Park possible. Jetsunma asked us to have this plaque made for them in the latter days of Eleanor’s life and she was able to see a mock-up of it in her last hours of consciousness. Eleanor passed away on May 4, 2022, with Woody at her side.
